The majority of loft conversions are carried out under permitted development, which means that planning permission is not required. However, Building Regulations approval is required, and if you live in a terraced or semi-detached house, you will also need a Party Wall Agreement between you and your neighbours. An architect or surveyor will draw up plans, which are then submitted for approval, and once these are approved, it’s all go.
We project manage the complete loft conversion throughout the construction phase, ensuring that the conversion meets the required building regulations at every stage, with a building control surveyor issuing a completion certificate upon final inspection.
Work carried out in a typical loft conversion includes: re-wiring and upgrading of electrics, new floor joists fitted, roof and floors insulated, rafters reinforced, windows installed, roof tiled and vents fitted, heating installed, sound insulation fitted, partition walls erected and plasterboarded, access panels and eaves storage fitted and staircase fitted.
We also fully decorate the room at the end, to create a beautiful, liveable space.
